Download the Installer: Visit the Gramps Portable page on PortableApps.com and download the latest setup file (e.g., version 6.0.6).
Choose Your Target Storage: Plug in your target USB flash drive, or navigate to your local cloud synchronization folder (like OneDrive or Dropbox).
Run the Installer: Double-click the downloaded .paf.exe file. When the installer asks for a destination folder, select your portable drive or cloud folder rather than your local C: drive.
Launch the Application: Open your portable drive folder, navigate to the GrampsPortable directory, and double-click GrampsPortable.exe to run the software. How to Use Gramps Portable 1. Managing Databases
Create a Tree: When you launch the app, navigate to Family Trees > Manage Family Trees (or use Ctrl + O) and click New.
Rename Your Tree: Highlight your new database, click Rename, and type a specific name.
Load the Tree: Double-click your named tree or select it and click Load Family Tree. 2. Building Your Tree
Set the Home Person: Switch to the People view, click the Add button to add yourself, right-click your name, and choose Set as Home Person.
Link Existing Family: Navigate to the Families tab and click the Plus (+) sign to create a family unit where you can manually assign a father, mother, and relationship status (like marriage).
